From Wednesday 18 March, Glasgow Short Film Festival is posting two films per day from the programme, each making their online premiere here. Each film will be free to view for one day only, although GSFF would welcome any donations, which will go directly towards the costs of restaging this year’s festival.
It was with great sadness that on the afternoon of Thursday 12 March we decided to postpone Glasgow Short Film Festival 2020.
GSFF is committed to prioritising public health and safety, and although at that point according to government guidance we fell within the restrictions on public gatherings, we felt obliged to take responsibility for our audiences and guests.
The escalation of the COVID-19 outbreak and the example set by other international festivals and arts venues across Europe demonstrated to us that postponement was the best solution.
Today we are happy to announce that the festival will go ahead from 19 to 23 August. We are working hard to ensure as much as possible of the original programme will be rescheduled, and will make more announcements in the coming months.
In the meantime, thanks to the generosity of our filmmakers, this week we are bringing a taste of the GSFF20 programme online. From today, Wednesday 18 March, we are posting two films per day from the programme, each making their online premiere here. Each film will be free to view for one day only, although we would welcome any donations, which will go directly towards the costs of restaging this year’s festival.
We’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who supported us in our decision to postpone the festival. Guests, partners, suppliers and audiences have been overwhelmingly generous and understanding, easing the pain of what has been a difficult few days, for us and many other organisations and individuals experiencing the same challenge.
Tickets and passes have been refunded in full. If you have not yet received a refund or been contacted by GFT box office, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
